And without further ado…..

Sassy Finished Portrait
Sassy Finished Portrait

I put the finishing touches on this sweet girl yesterday.  All I have left to do is a few coats of a high quality water based varnish.  I like to use a satin finish.  The varnish not only protects the portrait, but also will bring out the depth in the many layers of colors.  I always let the portrait “sit with me” awhile before the varnish coat.  I set it up on my wall where I can give it the occasional look.  I do this to make sure that I’m completely happy with my work.  Many times I’ll find some little something or other I feel compelled to tweak….that would be the perfectionist in me….HA!

  1. Thank you so much, Harmony. I will say that she was one of my more difficult pet portraits due to the many colors in that beautiful red coat of hers. Lots of trial and error to finally find the right palette for her colorings! She is a treasure!

  2. Oh wow! She is so gorgeous! Your portrait captures so much heart and gentleness in Sassy. I love the light in her eyes, the softness in her face and fur, and the way that one ear cocks back, listening. 🙂
