A while back I mentioned doing a video on one of my  fur techniques….and now I have decided to take it one step further.  I’m planning my very first e-course.  A step by step of how to paint….a…..mmmmmm…..what should it be?

I have some ideas, but I would like to hear from you all on the subject matter.   If you have any ideas, please leave me a comment or send me an email.

I’m thinking of doing a 4 to 6 week course….beginner level…..with videos and still photos….a private facebook page so you could connect with one another.  BUT…you would also have direct access to me through my email.  Those that were so inclined could send me a photo or video of their work in progress and then I would respond back with suggestions on how to improve the painting or technique.  It is very important to me that you retain your artistic style throughout the course.  I don’t want you to just ‘copy’ me I want you to take what I teach you and apply it to your painting….in your unique style and creative vision!

I have 30 plus years of painting experience and I taught Art for several years at a local Art Shop in Lafayette.  I loved it and I miss it so much.

So what do ya think?

  1. Can you teach us how you imbue the dogs’ eyes with so much soul? I would love that! Right now, my animal eyes are usually black ovals with a buff-colored catchlight. I love them, and they totally fit my cartoony style, but I would love to have the skill that you do in creating so much life and light in their eyes.

I also would love to learn how you do fur texture — and as Scott said, more than one kind of fur texture.

Could you teach us how to apply your techniques to many styles of painting? I love your realistic work, but I am primarily interested in whimsical art — which I know is one of your loves. If I could learn how to add more depth and texture to my cartoon paintings, with shading and light, that would be just dreamy.

    1. YES….Harmony…I plan on teaching all about the eyes and fur and feathers…all that good stuff. It is also very important to me that you maintain your style…you will be encouraged to take what I teach you and make it your own. Think of them as building blocks…how you ‘stack them up’ is totally up to you and your creative eye!

  2. Thank you Michele! I knew videos would be important as that is how I have taught myself to do so many creative things!

  3. Oh, how fun. I love that you are going to do something you love in a new format! I think the videos are important for this type of ecourse so bravo on that. Can’t wait to see what you come up with. Your art is amazing.

  4. wishing you success too! I feel there is alot of money to be made on the internet, especially for people that are already connected! I think there is a valid market for what you want to do – and a beginner class would probably work too. I’ve been brainstorming a class to do too!

    1. Thanks Vickie…..yes the internet opens up all sorts of wonderful possibilities! Good luck with your brainstorming, I”m sure something wonderful will “pop” into your head for a great e-class!

  5. I have always wanted to learn how to paint. Just don’t know where to start. Maybe start with the basics- basic brush styles and techniques. Or for more advanced readers- use of lighting/shading in paintings. I have always wondered how that all is done.

    1. Thanks Amy…..I think a lot of folks might find that interesting. Maybe I need to write a book on some basic techniques and supplies for the acrylic painter!

  6. Something with more than one fur texture, perhaps? That will allow you to show different techniques in the same painting. I suppose a male lion, or a horse with a substantial mane…

  7. Love this Debbie!! I myself can only do plant life. I would love to be involved in this. I actually have paint brushes. Maybe not the correct ones, but I’m sure you could guide me. Looking forward to it.:)
