Buster Dog Portrait

My last post of Buster, many of you thought him done and wondered what else needed to be done.  So…I thought it might be helpful if I posted the photos of Buster 7 and Buster 8 side by side so you could compare and more easily see the progress….

_Buster-1000Buster 7 is here on the left…Buster 8 on the right

At this stage, it is all about refining.  I’m adding the details….individual hairs, the collar and tag.  It all plays a part in bringing Buster to life.  Strengthening the darks and adding the lighter values.  I’m also bringing in some of the other colors…the rusty tones…seen in the beard.  Believe it or not, I still have a ways to go.  I’ll play with these details til I’m satisfied I’ve ‘captured that moment’, that moment that says fini!

  1. What a huge difference! Buster 8 has so much more depth and dimension than Buster 7. The difference is so amazing — and I’m so glad you put them side to side so we could see how much it’s changed. All the changes look very subtle, but it adds up to a dramatic difference.

One of the things I love about your pet portraits is the painstaking detail you add — each brushstroke of fur, each little play of light and shadow. I love it all!
