Wow….it has been awhile since I emersed myself into the blogging world. I took some much needed time off…not to rest…just to get some things done in my busy life. One of the most special things on my ‘to do’ list was for my mom and I to throw a bridal shower for my son’s beautiful bride to be! It was a success and we had so much fun planning and enjoying our time together.
This was our cake and our theme for the party. No I didn’t do the cake…would have loved to have made it, but some things are better off left to the professionals! It was yummy!
Here is our lovely bride to be…..we love her bunches!!!!
“funny thing happened” one of my mom’s best friends showed up in the very same outfit my mom just happened to be wearing that day. My mom is the white headed gal on the right. Everyone had a big laugh! It was so funny to see their faces when they saw each other for the first time!
Of course, the groom (my son…can’t ya tell) manage to stop by just as the gifts were being opened!
Do I really need to address this……of course, they were from me!
Again we had such a wonderful time and right after the shower Billy and I packed up our fifth wheel and headed north to Elkhart Indiana. We had some repair work done to the rv and you can read all about that adventure here if you are so inclined. We are currently kicking back in Kalamazoo at a great little park called Markin Glen.
Here is a photo of our site and our rig. The weather has been fabulous! They have a great bike trail here and we have been biking around 16 miles everyday! Of course, we stop for lunch along the way and today we stopped at a great little bakery. I had the most wonderful pasta/cashew salad…so good.
But there is still work to be done! I’m designing and printing the cards for numbering the tables at the wedding reception. All share more on that next post….they are looking sooooo good.
Lastly…..my dress! I making my dress from a vintage pattern. Here is a photo of the envelope.
I’m going to do the ‘tea length’ and isn’t it just awesome! Of course, I don’t have a 20 inch waist so I might look a bit different! Ha! Ha! But…don’t care…I love the style and the flowing circle skirt. It will be so much fun to waltz in….hubby and I took dance lessons all summer so we could do it up right!! Whew…I’m just bubbling over….long post! I’ll stop now, but I’ll be back with more on the table cards and “the dress”!
Welcome back – love the post! and I love the dress pattern – I would wear that dress too!
Thanks Vickie!
I would have thought it was the groom’s party that would be themed “she said ‘yes'” but I am not a good party planner.
Making your own dress for the wedding sounds like a wonderful idea, and the vintage pattern means you shouldn’t have to worry about identical outfits.
Never thought about it, but you are right…I definitely should not have to worry about someone wearing the same dress as me! Thanks for stopping by!
Showers, weddings, and sewing, oh my! Debbie, I can tell you’re kissing the joy as it flies. And that pattern! So glamourous! My mom was a sewer and if you can believe it, that looks like the same pattern she sewed for me for a wedding. Only the hemline was shorter. Enjoy every moment.
Oh, and the look of your blog with the white space is sooooo lovely!
Thank you Susan! I am enjoying the moments! And yes…..I like the ‘white space’ as well…seems many things in my life now require a bet more ‘white space’. A place where I can rest and recharge!
Welcome back, Debbie! How fun. Your son looks like a hoot. That is a great story about your mom’s outfit. That must have been a fun surprise! Now they are truly matching! I’ve always teased my husband about buying matching track suits, but he won’t go for it.
Hi Amy
My son….ah, you have no idea! LOL! There is a country and western song out there called, ‘He’s Mine’ by Rodney Akins and even though it is written from the father’s perspective…the lyrics ring true…..he is so much like me sometimes it is downright scary! HA!
Delightful post Deb. You are always in such a whirl wind – in a great way! Life will be even more full with a new family member. Love the dress. Love those vintage patterns. Those bike rides sound heavenly. Cheers!
Thanks Debbie…so happy to see your smiling face here! Yes my life seems to be a bit of a whirl wind, but I wouldn’t have it any way. I think it keeps me young or at least young at heart….LOL!
Who said MILs were horrible? You’ll make a lovely mother-in-law. Beautiful cake!
Thank you Tat and thank you for stopping by!
Love the dress pattern. I would love to make that one too! Glad your back. Actually I’ve been gone also and just wrote a post the other day for the first tie in a long time although I didn’t post it.
Hi Kelli
Glad to be back and yet….once you ‘disappear’ from blogland it is hard to get back into the swing of things. Once I made the decision to start posting again…it took me several more days to actually do it!
Debbie! It’s so good to hear from you! Congratulations on all this wonderful news from your family, and on your wonderful new almost daughter-in-law! Here’s to a fabulous wedding, and of course, a perfectly awesome dress. 😉
Thanks Harmony
It has been quite the journey and I feel so blessed to be here….
Welcome back! I’ve missed you. That dress is fabulous. You are going to simply float in it – float, my dear. 🙂
Hi Linda….I missed you too and all your lovely words and weavings! Something tells me I will be ‘walking on air’ the day of the wedding! So looking forward to the big day!
Welcome back Debbie! I did miss you. Your shower – both the wedding and the new one – look fabulous. You have been busy in a great way. Smiled when I saw the pic of your mom and her pal wearing the same outfit. What are the chances? Perhaps they should have a chat before the wedding day? Love the look of your dress and of course am thoroughly jealous. Can’t sew to save myself. Thankfully my daughter can. Looking forward to catching up with you and seeing your future projects.
Hi Kelly
I’m glad to be back! Sewing the dress I’m not worried about….fitting the dress….well that is another story. Most of my sewing experience comes from home decor….takes a little different skill set for garments, but I’m determined to figure it all out. Thank goodness for UTube and folks that share! LOL!
