Things have been busy here in Indiana, but I have been back at my easel……..
The photo on the left is the reference photo for the painting on the right. I am going to replace ‘the arm’ you see there with a pillow. Not that I have anything against ‘the arm’…LOL….but I want the focus to be ‘all about the PIP”
As you can see, with the ‘arm’ gone, Pip now becomes the ‘center of attention’. I always like to get a little bit of color on the dog as it helps to develop the background color. At this point I will continue to develop both the eye, nose area on Pip and the background. I do like to have the background pretty well finished before I move onto the body of the dog. The background here is going to be fabric….so lots of folds or ‘hills and valleys’ as I like to think of them.
This upcoming week is going to be a very exciting one….. I will be
continuing to develop this very special portrait of Pip
making an announcement….one I am very excited about
and
telling the ‘rest of the story’ about Miss Megabyte
I love artists and art. You are capturing the essence of the beast and your love and affection shows. Good job. Love your brief synopsis letting the pics tell your story. Thanks for the experience you are sharing.
Thomas Maiello
Thank you Thomas….so nice of you to stop by!
It’s always such fun to see your portraits-in-progress – I love that you let us peek along the way!
Peek away Deborah…..I love sharing the process to all who are interested! Thanks so much for stopping by!
you Had me at “things have been busy in Indiana” because that’s my home state. (I live in Texas now but Indiana is home) and then I fell in love with your puppy and painting. I can’t wait to see the finished product!
Isn’t the internet marvelous…..we learn so much about one another! Yes, Indiana is my home state too (Lafayette)! My husband was born and raised in Texas! What a hoot! So glad you are enjoying my painting of Pip!
I love when people share their works in progress. Good luck with the portrait.
Thank you Linda! I do so love to share my process, nice to know their are folks like you who enjoy reading about it!
I so enjoy watching you paint. It’s so different from weaving, the way you work the whole canvas. In weaving, it’s start at the bottom, weave to the top. Little Pip is a lucky dog to be the centerpiece of your painting.
Thanks Linda! I’ve enjoyed watching your pieces come to life on your blog too!
Looking good, Debbie! I am always envious of those who can paint and other media. Pip reminds me of our last pup. Can’t wait to see your project completed.
Cindy
Thanks Cindy! More updates coming soon!
Please keep us updated. I’m sharing Amy’s ‘cutie wiggle’.
Plenty of ‘wiggles’ to go around! Thanks so much for stopping by….
Oh, Debbie. I always get this little “cutie” wiggle when I see your work! Pip is SO CUTE! I love him.
Aw…thanks Amy, he is a charmer!
What a sweet little dog. I can’t wait to see this painting evolve!
He does have just the cutest little expression…those big teddy bear eyes get me every time!
I feel as if I’ve just had a chat with my mom about her latest work. She talks me through the process as you do. “I’m switching out the tree on the left, replacing it with a church. I feel it will work better. And the church steeple will be silver, not mud brown. The eye needs to focus up here, not be dragged down…”
Pip is a poppet.
Thanks Kelly…..that is quite the compliment! I would love to ‘chat’ with your Mom about our artistic endeavors….what fun we would have….I’m sure of it!
