From sketch to easel….Nuchi
Finding just the right background took some trial and error. I tried a light background at first, but it just left the little prince here looking a little flat. Decided I needed a rich, deep color to balance out all the light tones in his fur. Went with Burnt Umber, mixing in a little Raw Sienna here and there to add movement and light. It reminds me of a dark and delicious chocolate! The perfect background for the little Prince.
Now for the rest of my palette. I had to do a little experimenting there too, but decided on Burnt Umber with a touch of black for my darkest areas, moving into Raw Sienna and Burnt Sienna for my mid tones, and finally a soft cream for my highlights. Of course, I will be brush mixing those colors to find all those ‘in between’ shades in his fur.
The past two weeks have been intense…working between my easel and our house which we are trying to sell. The summer is just flying by.
Remember my painting of Pip….He found his way home a few days ago and this is part of the lovely note I received back…..
Hi Debbie, oh my land, what a beautiful painting of Pip. It arrived today, just minutes before my daughter drove up. We propped it up against the back splash in the kitchen. When she noticed the painting she about flipped out. It was a gift from heaven & she so needed something to make her smile. She kept saying ” I can have him forever”. She was trying to decide where to hang it so she could see it most of the time. This couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. Thank you so very much for the priceless gift you have given her. Pip is my daughter’s world.
From the bottom of my heart I thank you Debbie. God works wonders just when we need them. Bless you my friend.
Pretty special…yes. I’m often asked why I do what I do….that little note pretty much says it all. God blessed me with a very special gift……I’m so thankful to be able to bring such joy into people’s lives…..
What a fabulous note. It’s such a delight to know your work is loved and appreciated, besides being so much fun to create. And dear Nuchi is looking divine as well. You really aced that background – it’s the perfect backdrop for such a handsome gent.
“a handsome gent’….I love that…it fits Thanks so much for stopping by!
Debbie, what a heartfelt note. I hope you know that you are making a difference in people’s lives by sharing your very special gift. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Nancy! Yes, I feel very blessed to have been given the opportunity to share my gift. Knowing it makes someone happy is very uplifting.
Oh sweet. Love the note. The background on that new one is perfect. He seems like a very serious creature – not at all like Pip!
Thanks Amy, I’m so glad you like the background. He is very different from Pip!
Lovely. That is just the best note.
It is ….. isn’t it. Very gratifying to know how much little Pip means to his people and that I could be a part of that….is very special indeed.
