Finished Portrait of Nuchi

I will be sending this little one to his owners now and I shall miss him!  I really do feel as though I make a connection with the animals I paint.  Those hours at the easel are not just spent with paint and brushes, but a conversation of sorts between me and my subject always emerges!  We speak of many things…..and sometimes secrets are revealed…but always kept!  Goodbye my Sweet Prince….until we meet again.

I’m also saying ‘goodbye’ to our home, our stick and brick home that is.  If you follow me on facebook, you know we were successful in selling our home ourselves.  I take great pride in that accomplishment!  We sold it, in less then 2 weeks to a wonderful young man.  Even though we have not lived in that house for the past eight years, it is still somewhat bittersweet to see it go.  It stands empty now…..but as I walk through its rooms I can still hear the laughter, feel the love and tears that were all shared within its walls.  But there is also a renewed sense of freedom, in the knowing that we are no longer responsible for its upkeep.  In the understanding that this house…this home….will continue on.

We will be leaving Lafayette soon, heading out to Richmond, VA.  My great nephew is getting married!

Weddings are such wonderful celebrations of life and love!

There will be dancing

and you know

how

I LOVE TO DANCE!

  1. Hi Debbie:
I also wanted to tell you that you couldn’t have picked a better background color for Nuchi. It’s more than perfect. He is on our wall in the front room where everyone can see it and I know we’re going to get allot of “oohs” and “ahhs”

  2. Debbie:
We received the portrait today. When Chris took the packaging off and we looked at the real thing…..it literally took our breath away! We couldn’t stop staring at it – we put it down to take a picture with “the real” Nuchi and he almost barked at it – it looks that real!! We’re in awe of your amazing talent – how on earth do you make them come to life? Some people can never understand the love you have for your 4 legged kids….and what it means to have them around you – the portrait is so special for us because Nuchi is so special to us. Thank you again for doing this for us!!

    Chris, Vicky & Nuchi

    1. You and Chris are so welcome. It was truly a pleasure to paint Nuchi for you. I’m also happy that you like the background and have found that ‘perfect spot’ to ‘show off’ the “little Prince”. Our furbabies are so much a part of our lives and Nuchi is one lucky little guy to have you both as loving parents!

  3. How ADORABLE!!! I feel like I can reach out and pet him. Your work is so beautiful and I like to hear how you have conversations as you are painting. LOVELY!!!

  4. Debbie, I just love your pet portraits! They have such a personality.
And congrats on the sale of your home, bittersweet I’m sure! Moving on the bigger advertures

  5. Your Nuchi painting is fabulous – it’s been great fun to follow along as you work your magic. Congratulations on the sale of your home – it’s lovely to have a successful conclusion to your efforts that’s win-win for everyone involved. Enjoy your trip to Virginia and have fun dancing!

  6. Nuchi is such a treasure! I admire the depth in your paintings. Love!

For years my husband and I have talked about doing what you do: RVing full time when we retire. It’s with great interest and curiosity that I am reading about you selling your home. I wonder what this next chapter will bring you … or WHERE it will bring you! Wishing you the best.

    1. Thank you Heather! We have been full timing in our fifth wheel for about 8 yrs now and still love every minute. You do have to get creative sometimes….when you only have 400 sq feet of living space…but it is amazing what you learn about yourself and your partner in a small space. My son and daughter-in-law just bought a house with about 2800 sq feet, I get absolutely lost in it when I visit…..LOL!

  7. I love the portrait – pet portraits are a wonderful talent to have – we all should have them done. We recently spent a weekend in Ohio with friends that currently have 16 dogs – and we took our two! wow!

    1. Thank you Vickie! Wow! is right…..16 dogs? My goodness, my two are quite demanding I can’t imagine how anyone handles 16…. Blessing to them and you….BOW WOW!

  8. Fantastic portrait of Nuchi!
Congrats on quick successful sale of your house.
Have fun at the wedding. Dance until your toes are happy.
    Cheers!
    Debbie

  9. Oh Debbie! Once again I see how talented you are, not just in art but in talking to the souls of the animals. And you know that that is close to my own heart, too.

Congrats on the sale of your house! We once sold a home by owner, so I know what an accomplishment that is. And in two weeks! That’s huge. Sending you big hugs & love as you say goodbye to that precious place that holds so much love – and as you say hello to new adventure.

  10. Debbie, I can almost see you talking to this little guy from the picture you present. You have a talent at capturing the character of the subject with your brush. Good luck with the home sale – and of course, enjoy your dancing at the wedding.

    1. Thank you Nanette! I feel truly blessed to have the gift of artistry and so happy you can see little Nuchi’s personality shining through!

Chris & I are so pleased with Nuchi’s portrait. It it amazing how you make him look so real – like he’s going to step off the pedestal and lick our faces!! We already have a special place on the wall where this will go and we’ll cherish it for years to come. It was a pleasure to meet you this year and we so appreciate you taking the time to share your talent with us.
    Vicky
