Our next stop on our California journey was Morgan Hill. We stayed at the Maple Leaf Rv park.
I really did not like this park much. As you can see, the spaces are quite tight. It is a large park with everyone crammed in like sardines. On top of that, I think I only saw the sun once while I was there.
We did take a drive into San Jose and visited the Winchester Mystery House. It was very interesting, but not at all what I expected. The house is quite ‘unfinished’ in several areas and we could not see the 4th floor because it was raining….yeah….leaky roof. I know up keep on something like this has to be staggering, but admission pricing is high and it seems they should be able to do a better job. I think for many years it was just a ‘cash cow’ and the owners drained it and gave nothing back. They didn’t start the restorations until the 70’s from what I have read. Still…I’m glad I took the tour. Mrs Winchester may have had a bit of quirkiness (who doesn’t), but I believe she was a very intelligent woman, a woman ahead of her time and who cared very much about the world and people around her.
Next little drive took us into Cupertino. For those you that don’t know, Cupertino is where Apple lives. We have always had Apple computers in our house and I really believe that Apple is my hubby’s hero. Very busy place, but top secret! All we really got to see were the ‘outside’ of the buildings. Still a very fun day!
I did forget to share a couple of photos from our last stop in Three Rivers.
I love how these two trees have grown together….”ebony and ivory” living together in “perfect harmony”. Supporting each other….weathering all of life’s storms.
We are currently ‘weathering’ one of those “storms”. We are having some trouble with our fifth wheel. I’m feeling very blessed to have made it to our next stop, Vacaville CA, without a serious accident. It seems we will be here for at least two or three weeks while the repairs are made. On the bright side….I have time to set up my painting studio and look forward to sharing some more of my art with you all in the next post!
Thanks Kelly…..the past 3 weeks have been so very stressful, but finally behind us! I’m starting on that ‘repair’ story today!
Oh it does sound like you’ve been through the ringer with your home. Golly. Am glad to read that today is the day that the repairs finally start. May they be swift and get you on the road again soon!
I do thank you for your introduction to Mrs. Winchester and her incredible house. Hadn’t heard of either her nor it. Whoa. What a life, ‘eh? She does sound like an interesting person. As to the running of the house – that happens so often. We have museums here that are crippled by poor management. Hopefully things turnaround for the Mystery House.
My jaw dropped when I saw the photo of the Maple Leaf RV park. Yikes. Not a very good representation of our dear maple leaf, sorry. The photo depicted on their website is a tad different than this …
Eagerly awaiting your story of the repairs …
Beautifully written, Debbie. I do love the 2 trees and how they have grown and woven together. How awesome. We hope repairs are made quickly to your RV and so thankful you weren’t driving on highway. Enjoy your adventures.
Thank you! Today is the day the repairs finally start….I’ll be so glad when this is all done and we can get back on the road.
