Wow…it has been a journey these past couple of weeks.  We left Lafayette right before the labor day weekend.  We were making our way to Richmond VA for my nephew’s wedding.  Along the way, we discovered this quaint little village if you will….called Lancaster Camp Ground in Pennsylvania.  If you follow the link, you can learn all about its rich history and evangelistic beginnings.  I fell in love…with both the people and the place.  There is a serenity here…a quiet peacefulness where you can renew and immerse yourself into your spirituality.   It was a beautiful experience.  I’m going to share just a few photos….I used photoshop to enhance the vintage qualities.

  1. My father’s wife has a tiny cottage in a Pennsylvanian Christian camp village. She and her brother each have a cabin there. The cabins are all encircled around the communal tabernacle. It is at least 100 years old, the camp, used for revivals of an evangelical branch, the cabins being small tiny houses really, some people living there full time, but most not. All dwellers have to be a member of the church – which bars me from hanging out for a summer which I’d love to do – and still I find it charming and oddly sacred. Perhaps it is something from another lifetime that I miss, when home life and spiritual sharing weren’t so separated. Thank you for reminding me of it.

  2. Got chills when I read your comment about being 57 and the photo. What a lovely place Lancaster appears to be. You’ve got me hooked. Off to check out your link. Hope the wedding was a hoot and a great success.

    1. The wedding was indeed a “hoot”! The reception was fun right up until the time my sweet Uncle grabbed me for a hug and somehow we ended up on the floor together! LOL! But that is a story for another time…LOL! I’ve always felt very blessed that God and my Angels have sent me those ‘little’ signs of love my entire life. My favorite one was the day I opened a fortune cookie and it simply stated, “God loves you especially”. How awesome is that!

  3. I love Lancaster too. There’s just something that seems to slow down time there. 🙂 I have family there and also closeby, so I get to go more than usual. The tall corn stalks, the Amish buggies, ah, I love it all!
