Well it’s finished….all that is left is the final varnish coat.

So let’s have a re-cap…

There’s Berta on the far right.  Berta seems to be shock right now.  You see, she just found out about Darth the imposter.  Berta is a fearful little thing and it just doesn’t take much to send her running back to the hen house.

Behind Berta is Sally.  Now, as you can see, Sally is quite annoyed at Darth.  I mean, how dare He pretend to be ‘one of the girls’ and go sneaking around in the hen house at all hours!  Berta is usually annoyed at everyone most of the time…LOL!

Next there is Henrietta.  She is a bit of a busy body and always seems to have the down low on what’s happening in the hen house and who is ‘nesting’ with who!  Even she was surprised about Darth and she’s about to give him the 3rd degree!

Behind Henrietta, you’ll see Cora and Louise.  Those two always have their heads together whispering about this and that.  They are very prim and proper and I’m sure are quite perplexed at Darth’s behavior.  They probably both are having the ‘vapors’ right now.

On the end is Sue Ann.  Poor Sue Ann isn’t very bright.  She keeps following Darth around asking, “What do you mean you are a cockerel?” and, “You are a chicken….I thought you were a chicken!”.  Next she will be doing her best Chicken Little imitation, exclaiming to everyone that the sky is falling….because chickens are turning into cockerels and no one knows why!

Ok….last but not least…Darth Vader.  Darth is a very complicated young cockerel….who claims he was just trying to have a better understanding of the chickens.  Ya know, he will be old enough to date in a few months and he just wants to know, ‘what chickens want from a rooster’!  Personally, I think the girls were lucky that Darth was around the night the fox crept into the hen house!

I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed working on this painting and getting to know the ‘girls’….LOL!

A special Thank you goes out to Michele Duff (the girls) and Jane Kinroy (Darth) who graciously provided me with the reference photos.  Thanks so much!

This painting will be available for purchase, once it is varnished.  If you are interested, feel free to contact me here.

Now….I promised a reveal on a couple of fronts….BUT…this post is already on the long side.  Be patient for a bit longer…..next blog post (I promise) will have all the details.
