Imposter in the Hen House!

If ya know anything about chickens and roosters, (obviously I do not), then you might have spotted this a bit earlier then me.

It seems Mae Bell is not at all what she seems to be….Mae Bell….is actually a young rooster called a cockerel.

I have to admit, I did have my suspicions, there was just something about that look in his eyes.  You know the one, they are up to something ya just can’t figure it what!  No wonder HE has been strutting his stuff around the hen house!  

Apparently Mae Bell’s real name is Darth Vader!  Darth, like his namesake, can be quite the imposing character.  He has been known to chase and scare the bejesus out of more then just a few UPS and US mail carriers!  I have to admit, I would run too!

The story goes that Darth even took on a local fox, who crept into the hen house one night.  That was the fox’s mistake.  Darth may have lost a couple of toes, but he came out the winner and lived to talk about it another day.

Darth was knowingly pretending to be something he was not, but many of us out there in creative land often feel like we are imposters.  Pretending to be artists, pretending we actually have a clue at what we are doing.

Imposter Syndrome is a very real thing!  I struggle with it myself from time to time.  My brain is constantly telling me I’m just pretending to be ‘good enough’….that I have no real talent, no place at the easel at all.

Do you ever feel that way?

Well don’t let it beat you down!  Instead…surround your self with people who understand and can help you see that you are not an Imposter.  That you actually know what you are doing and maybe you can also benefit from their knowledge and experience and improve your skills and your paintings.  

We all need help, we all need a safe environment to grow and learn and be the very best we can be.  The world is a scary place and sometimes you need a safe haven.
