So hard to believe that Christmas is almost here! I know many of you are looking out your window at a ‘winter wonderland’…not so here in Yuma. We are still enjoying mild temps and sunny days…..As you can see….no snow, but plenty of rocks and sand. I never thought I would say this, but I do miss those quiet winter mornings of freshly fallen snow. Those days when no one is stirring….not even a mouse! But then I would open the door and a blast of arctic air would quickly break the spell! I don’t miss bundling up to the point I can’t move and then shoveling the driveway for an hour only to have the snow plow pile it all back up again! I don’t miss getting out the hairdryer to de-snow the dog’s fur…even though I just spent another hour cleaning a big patch of snow from the back yard. Only to see said dogs jump the snow drift and gleefully roll in the snow…..coming back to my door covered in the stuff! Oh….I could go on….but I think you get the point. I’m thankful to be here in Yuma with my friends and not a snowflake in sight!
Not to say we don’t have plenty of Christmas spirit here…..tomorrow we will be donning our ‘gay apparel’ and singing Christmas Carols around the park and on Thursday we have our annual Christmas parade. This year I’ll be in the parade along with my fellow line dancers…..boot scooting our way through the streets! Speaking of boots…..I have a new pair….an early Christmas present to me…….“ain’t they pretty”
Christmas Day will find me….gathered with my friends around a big pot luck dinner. There will be ham and turkey and all the trimmings!
Most importantly there will be love and joy
and
nobody has to shovel the driveway!!!!!
Ho Ho Ho y’all and Merry Christmas!
What a fabulous pair of boots! And perfect for sashsaying through snowless streets to celebrate. Wishing you a merry and a happy!
Thank you Deborah and Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Howdy Debbie–those boots remind me of Denton, TX (I miss my pals there–just moved to FL in May, which feels like home for me even though I grew up in Michigan and had plenty of snowy holidays.) I wish you a wonderful potluck celebration and that the dishes are dandy. PS I googled to see where Yuma, AZ. I bet you’re close to snow if you want it. Are you?
Yes…if I want snow it would not be too hard to find…just have to move up into the higher elevations. We indeed had a wonderful potluck and thanks so much for stopping by…..
I’m a white Christmas kind of gal and have to say I can probably count ’em on one hand. Ah well. If I truly want to see it I only need drive thirty minutes into the mountains.
As for your boots? I love them. They are gorgeous. What a lovely early Christmas present. Yee Haw! Have a splendid Carolling session today and kick your heels up tomorrow! Merry Christmas Debbie!
Thanks Kelly…..and there was plenty of heel kick-in!
How I wish I could see that line dance! I’ve never seen one, but I’d go watch if you were in it, Debbie. Have a blast with this holiday season (and your cute new boots!).
Thanks Harmony! I’m loving my new boots and if you were here I wouldn’t let you just watch….we would get you up and dancing girl! YEE…HAW!
Merry Christmas, Debbie. That Christmas parade sounds like fun. I know you’ll have a great time!
Yes I will Linda….it’s a great group of gals!
My first time to your lovely site. Hello and nice to meet you here. 🙂 And yes the boots is stunning. I hope Singapore has snow…
Thank you Jace! If snow is what you are wishing for…then may big fluffy snow flakes find you on Christmas Day!
