Hello everyone!  Here we are in the New Year and it is proving to be a very exciting one for me.  Who knew that me signing up for a watercolor class would result in me being asked to teach the class!  The rv park that we winter at offered water color classes and I thought it would be fun to be painting with a group again….so I signed up!  Turns out so did a lot of other ladies and most of them were beginners.  The watercolor teacher, a very talented one, was a little overwhelmed by the numbers.  Long story short….through a series of phone calls….she stumbled across the fact that I used to teach.  She asked me if there was anyway I would take over the beginning class!  Oh  happy day…..YES…..I’m so excited!  And then this happens……

hand

I was playing a game I love….bumbe ball ( a cross between tennis and volleyball) and I fell…..hard….caught myself with the heal of my hand and then rolled.  I landed in a sitting position and immediately laid back down…..assessing my injuries.  Of course, my fellow teammates all rushed to my side.  My right leg definitely hurt and so did my right hand, but nothing felt broken or twisted so up I came and back into the game I went.  Well after about 3 or 4 swings, I knew my hand was hurting more then it should and stopped.  Next day, I decided to have a professional take a look.  Three x-rays later and they still don’t know if it is broken….too much swelling.  I go back this Tuesday for more x-rays and I’m hoping it is just a sprain.

The good news is….believe it or not….I can still paint.  Yuppers….I can hold a brush…my thumb and fingers are wigglers.  If there is a bone broken, I’m told it is one of the smaller bones that sits right at the top of your wrist connecting your arm bones to them their hand bones….LOL!  Ok, so now that silly song is stick in my head!  At any rate….the class will go on!

Now for a special surprise for all of you painters that follow my blog…..how would you like to take the class….online?  I’m still working out the details, but I thought I would “put it out there” and see how many of you would be interested.  This class would be taught at the beginning level, there would be weekly lessons which you could do at your own pace and time, and I’m thinking of setting up a private facebook  page so we could share and interact with one another.  My question to you is, “how many of you would prefer this class be taught in acrylics?”  Drop me a comment below or use my contact page.  I would really appreciate your input on this!  I know you are wondering about cost…well…the first ‘module’ will be FREE!  That will give us all a chance to see if it works and if it is enjoyable!  At this point, I can’t say how many weeks or how many ‘modules’ will follow.  Teaching online is all new to me, so if you are game we can learn together! And….since those of you that take a chance and sign up for the first class will always be near and dear to my heart…..you will get very special pricing on all future classes!

In a few days I will be posting more info on the class and how to sign up…..So now is your chance to have some input on how the class is structured, acrylics or watercolor, and subject matter!  You will not be obligated to take the class just by sharing your opinion.  Thanks in advance for all your help!

  1. I hope you heal up soon! Just think, though, of how inspirational you’ll be to all those beginning watercolorists. If you can do it with your hand in a brace, they can do it, too!

I’d be very interested in your online class. Since I’m not painting in acrylics anymore, my vote is for watercolors!

    1. Thanks Harmony and my hand is much improved and thankfully NOT broken! So glad you would be interested in taking the watercolor class. I am going to be offering both watercolor and acrylic online classes….the tentative start date will be March 1st! More details to follow…….

  2. Hi Debbie,

I am definitely interested in a watercolor class! Just not right now because I am hosting an 8 week online book study which is pretty intensive. Later, I would love to if the price is right!

    1. Amy….would so love to have you in class! The ‘start’ date for the upcoming class is tentatively set for March 1st. I want to have time to get several videos put together and promote the class. So maybe the time will work out for you!

  3. Dear Debbie,

I hope your hand gets well soon. As for the painting lessons that you’re starting off with, wish you all the best.
You sound like a very positive and easy going lady. Good on you. Keep smiling. Wanted to mention I love your profile picture. You have the sweetest and most contagious smile:) Take care of your hand!

  4. Sorry about your hand. At least you hurt it doing something FUN! On line classes taught by you would be incredible! Although I already paint in both water color and acrylic, I have never taken a class and would love an opportunity to learn from someone so talented and willing to share. Acrylic is my vote – but am open to either medium.
Heal quickly. Love your great attitude.
    Cheers!
    Debbie

  5. I love your attitude, playfulness and enthusiasm. How wonderful that you are still able to teach the class. Online classes are a great idea 🙂

    1. Thank Kama! I’m 57 years young and I don’t plan on slowing down or taking a backseat to anything or anyone life throws at me! Ya just gotta “roll with it, baby!”.
