at both ends…..

that’s what my life feels like right now.  Just so many things going on with my social calendar, my teaching, and my own artist’s schedule.  I slept til almost 7am this morning…a very rare occurrence for both me and my dogs.  Why all fuss?  That time of year.  We will be leaving Yuma, along with many of our winter friends by the first week of April.  So the rush is on for everyone to plan some type of farewell party or social event.  For example, this week will be spent going to a dinner dance where I’m baking two birthday cakes (I love to bake so of course I volunteered!), then on Sunday about 30 of us are doing a ‘float trip’ down the Colorado River.  I play Bumbee ball (similar to tennis) Mon, Wed, Fri mornings and Tues, Thurs Evenings.  Happy Hour is everyday between 4pm and 5pm.  Line Dancing is every Friday.  I’m continuing to teach watercolor every Thursday afternoon….we start a new painting today and I just received a commission for a new pet portrait….  See what I mean…..I’m worn out just typing it out!  But…I love it and that is the problem..I don’t want to give anything up.

Unfortunately that means by blog is suffering a bit…finding the time to write…to put together my online classes (which I had hoped to be up and running by now) just seems to be a bit impossible right now.  Once we leave in April, things will slow down and I’ll put my focus back on my blog and my e-classes.  I’m giving myself permission to do that…..because this is my time to enjoy…to celebrate….to embrace it all and have FUN!

I know last I wrote about WooCommerce and I have been playing around with it a bit.  I set up my wordpress site on a ‘local host’ using MAMP.  By using a local host I can play all I want without effecting my wordpress site here on the web.  There are many tutorials on how to accomplish this…I used Lynda.com.  They charge a monthly fee for unlimited viewing of videos and it is worth it to me because I am definitely a ‘visual learner’!  As to WooCommerce, yes I do like it and I plan to incorporate it here in the future.  Although the interface seems simple enough,  I have found there is still a lot for me to learn.  So…..it make take a bit before you see any changes here on my site!

  1. Holy yummy yuma! What kind of cakes are you baking? If one is coconut, I’m coming : )). For sure, I’m joining you in a line dance. PS I like it when you’re here, Debbie, and also when you’re there creating this fun we get to read.

    1. Ah….thanks Susan! I didn’t make coconut this time, but I’ll add that to my list just for you! Love to see you in line dancing class, we have such fun! And I love that you stopped by to chat…..put a smile on my face!

  2. I tried commenting several times before. Something was obviously not working correctly. So I’m trying again…
All I can say is YIKES!! And wow, miss socialite that you are.
Enjoy the time you have left while in Yuma.
May you be blessed with happy trails in front of you.

    1. Thanks Kelli! The internet is great when it works, but oh so frustrating when in does not. I couldn’t find anything on my end…..but I’m certainly no expert. So happy it finally decided to work and your comment came through! I do so love it here and will miss everyone, but ready for a little relaxation time!

  3. I’ve heard that the economy of many winter home communities has been suffering. How does Yuma hold up between seasons?

    1. Yuma holds up quite well. They have a huge agricultural industry here which supports them all year long…..we are but a small part of their overall economy.

  4. Debbie, I’m worn out just from reading your social calendar. You are far busier than I am, yet I feel like I’m as busy as possible right now. I’m looking forward to your online classes, when the time is right for them — well after April, I imagine. Thanks for telling us about how you’re learning how to put the classes together on the technical side. Your leap into this is inspiring to me!
