Settling into our second home…..Yuma Arizona….has taken a bit more time then expected.  Old friends seem to arrive daily and bumby ball and line dancing are in full swing (pun intended HA!).  Just too much fun, y’all!  I am also pleased to announce that I will not only be teaching watercolor again this year, but also adding acrylics here at Del Pueblo RV park.

The sale of our home last summer has also allowed me the opportunity to make some improvements to my painting studio.  I have a new easel, that is awesome.  I encourage you to click on the link to check it out ‘ARTristic Easel’.   It is a bit pricey, but I think the versatility it offers is worth it.  Next on my list….a new camera tripod which will allow me to shoot videos from above.  It will give you…the viewer…a much better view with less distortion and allow me a much more comfortable painting position.  I snapped a few photos of the new easel and my new “studio” chair….the camera tripod has yet to arrive.

new 'studio' chairSo much more comfortable!

easelLove this new easel!

easel-2All four arms can extend to hold bigger canvas or board, it tilts, and can spin 360 degrees!  All the while keeping your painting surface firmly attached!

Now about that raven painting…..I’m in the process of re-evaluating the painting.  Although I am happy with the painting itself, I’m just not happy with the illustration board it is painted on.  I’m missing my gesso board surface.  The paint definitely acts and looks differently on this surface and I have not been able to embrace that new look!  So, I’m putting it aside for now and starting a new Raven painting on my gesso board.  It will give me an opportunity to really compare the two surfaces side by side.  I still think the illustration board has potential….I’m just not ‘feeling’ it at present.

Special note…..I will be putting my site in maintenance mode on November 27th to implement my new site design!  This new design will include the debut of my online classes in both acrylic and watercolor.  I’m hoping to re-open my site by December 7th!  Keep your fingers crossed that all goes well!

  1. Too much fun with all the new accoutrements, Debbie! So glad to hear you’re settling into your new home with flair. I tried the link you provided for the easel and all was wacky. Couldn’t even begin to figure out where to find a price with the out-of-sync text, buttons and images (likely my browser but don’t know). Would you be willing to share what it costs? I gave away my old one (very heavy) when I sold the farm and need a new one. Thanks!

    1. Hi Nanette. I went to the website and you are right I think they must be having some issues. My view was not as bad as yours sounds, but definitely a bit wacky! The price on the easel is $279.00 and shipping within the US is Free. It is a bit more cumbersome then my last easel…it weighs around 9lbs (I think) and it does not store as easily as my old easel. But.. I love everything else about it and it was a good choice for me!

  2. I think that easel is the bomb! I wish I’d splurged on something like that the first time. Can’t wait to see your new site. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  3. How exciting! So admire you for embracing the online courses and a new website. I shall cross all my crossables that the latter comes together seamlessly. And I’ll point Mom in the direction of that easel. I suspect she’d love it.

    1. Thanks Kelly! I have been using the easel for a few days now and I’m so glad I made the investment! There is a bit of a learning curve with all the knobs and adjustments (I actually had to read the instructions..LOL!), but once you figure it out it works great!
