I thought some of you might be interesting in seeing and knowing a little bit about our lifestyle. This is a photo of our “little home on wheels”. It is a 40 foot fifth wheel, which we pull with our dually truck. We and our two furballs (Cosmo and Belle) have been traveling around the United States for about 5 years now and love every minute of it. We are originally from Indiana, where we spent most of our married life. I was born and raised in Indiana, but I married a real live Texan….Billy, my husband of 34 years. We have one handsome son, named Sam. Sam has started his own business called Crawlspace Remediation and is doing very well….proud Mama speaking here! This year is turning out to be a very special one! Sam is getting married in October 2014. We feel very blessed and have welcomed Kourtney into our little family with open arms!
Living in a fifth wheel does present some challenges, storage being high on the list. I really had to “pare” down my artist supplies, but I think it has actually allowed me to become a better Artist. I used to have hundreds of bottles of paint….yeah, I said hundreds. I’m now down to about 10 which caused me to learn a lot more about the color wheel and mixing colors. I also believe that a smaller color palette leads to a more cohesive painting. I’m not as likely to pull something in from “left field” that doesn’t relate to anything. Bottom line is…I’m more focused and more organized then I have ever been when painting. BUT….I still have about 200 brushes of all shapes and sizes….as I just can’t seem to part with any of my old friends!
Living in 400 sq feet meant simplifying many aspects of our lives. Less clothes, less shoes, less dishes, less pots and pans…..well, you get the idea. The upside to all this is our lives have become uncluttered and simple. That allows us the opportunity to see….really see and hear and touch and experience…the world around us. It is a beautiful world….and we are loving it!
