im-so-gladI adore the month of October.

Maybe it is because it is my birth month.

Maybe it is because of the cool, crisp air which brings me back to life after a long, hot summer.

Maybe its the Halloween spirits.

Dare I say….”all of the above”

Yes, it is definitely

All of the Above

I truly do feel reborn this time of year.  My Gypsy soul awakens and I look forward to a new journey.  One which I hope will be full of love and laughter and new adventures. It won’t be long until we will be heading out, leaving behind our Indiana friends and family.  Always bittersweet….the leaving….I’m ready for new adventures, but sad to say goodbye.  Especially sad to be leaving Max…my sweet grand baby….thank goodness we live in a time of computers and smart phones.  I’ll still be able to see that face….and hear that sweet voice.

We will be heading south to Florida, where more family and friends await to greet us. I feel so blessed to still be able to take that journey…. to feel the excitement build as we approach our first ‘travel day’.

BUT…before then I still have lots to do and see right here…

as the leaves explode in their fall colors

as I feel the crunch of them under foot

can you smell the campfires?

blessed be

and blessed I am

to live in a world

  1. October is my favorite month of the year also. With the crisp winds and the color of the leaves changing. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your fall trees photo here.

    Hope you enjoyed your birthday!!!

  2. I also love October! It is when the leaves change colors. It is of course HALLOWEEN lol. Please have a safe trip to Florida and enjoy. Happy Birthday! My birthday is in November.

  3. What a great theme for a post. This Fall, I have been enjoying the leaves more than ever. We are actually moving to FL in a few years and I will miss the Fall leaves when we go. So, for now, I am taking it all in!

  4. I love Lucy Montgomery and the Anne of Green Gable stories. I’ll confess, I’m deeply in love with summer, but appreciating this transition into a time of rest and reflection (perhaps more than before) this year. In California the leaves don’t really turn colour until November (unless you’re in the mountains). I look forward to what’s to come, have started making soup already! Enjoy watching the boy grown and all the seasons of our lives Debbie. Hugs!

  5. Yes to Octobers! The colourful and crunchy leaves, the cooler temps, visits to the pumpkin patch, all things pumpkin, no longer any need to mow the lawn – all of it. As with you, I feel more awake and more alive. Safe travels to you, Debbie and may you be blessed with lots and lots of video chats with Max. Just think of the adventures that lie ahead that you can share with him!

  6. Octobers are indeed magical aren’t they? I love that nature gives us so much rich deep beautiful color to soak in – she surely knows we need to extra doses to sustain us when the world turns a bit more wintery subdued. Enjoy your next round of road adventures, and happy birthday wishes. No matter what the exact date is, I do hope you’re spending the entire month in celebration!
