My Camera/Video Equipment

A list of my camera equipment

I use a Canon EOS 7D digital camera for all my video and still photos

My Current lenses are also from Canon

EF 40mm f/2.8 STM pancake lens….I use this lens primarily for videos

EF-S 18-135mm IS lens…..is used for both still and videos

EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 L IS USM lens…..I primarily use for my trips to the zoo and for shooting wildlife in the ‘wild’!  I have also found it useful for my pet portraits……where things can also get a little “wild”…..LOL!

For shooting videos in my studio, I place my camera on a tripod directly behind me shooting over my shoulder to my easel.  I then tether my camera (USB cord) to my computer (macbook pro).  Using the EOS utility software that came with my camera, I am able to have a ‘live view’ on my computer screen.  I can also control certain aspects of my camera through my computer keyboard.  I have my computer sitting off to the side of my easel, so that I can monitor what I’m videoing as I record.  I then take the captured video and upload it to my computer using IMovie to edit and prepare it for upload to Vimeo.  Once the video has been uploaded to Vimeo I can embed it into my blog.

It sounds more complicated then it is, but it did take me some time to figure it all out.  I did a lot of research on the web and watched a lot of tutorials on the subject.  I’m still learning, still refining my process.  I subscribe to Lynda.com which provides me with invaluable learning videos on many of the software programs I use.
