The last few days have been full of fun and sun!  Jerome is a neat little town way up on the side of a mountain.  It was quite the twisty, turny road, but once we arrived….

Such an interesting place….full of fabulous little shops and artist studios and great restaurants.

Just a wee bit up the road from Jerome…..we found this….what used to be an old mining town.

It now resembles a graveyard for old trucks and machinery

Rooster had a lot to say

Still a bit of life here and this guy had plenty to say about it all….I wonder what all the fuss is about…..

Ah…..perhaps the rooster is the proud papa!

We are currently in Albuquerque…where last fall some of you may remember I had my camera stolen.  It was a sad day as I had been to the zoo and had some great photos.  Well…..I have a new camera (thank you sweet hubby) and here are a few photos I snapped at the zoo.  It was such a fab day, the animals put on quite the show for me….I felt so special, here are but a few of my favorites……

I can’t tell you how fortunate I felt to find this little guy awake….and ready to pose for me.  Koalas spend a great deal of their time sleeping the day away!

Fun in the pool

The polar bear was having a great time playing in the pool!

Come on Mom....let's play!

This….this little girl just cracked me up.  Poor mama trying to catch a few zzzzzz’s and baby Jasmine would have none of that!

Mooooom!
Mooooom!

Are you laughing yet?  She just sat there and rocked on poor mama’s head

Are you awake yet?
Are you awake yet?

This went on and on!  Have to give it to Mama….she just kept right on napping!

What? You're leaving....
What? You’re leaving….

What a day….what a perfectly, wonderful, fabulous day!

The universe was smiling and so was I…..still am……

  1. What a treat to go to the zoo with you! Thanks for sharing yoru snapshots. Baby Jasmine cracked me up! Is the last shot of a flamingo? It’s a great photo, by the way — such character in that cocked head. Speaking of cockerels, I adore your rooster pic. Would love to paint that!

  2. Great photos. I’ve been craving a day at the zoo! That elephant is just a riot. Jerome is a very cool place. I don’t do heights well and the drive gave me crazy anxiety but it was worth it. Keep enjoying and sharing your travels!

  3. How wonderful that you were able to go back and recapture some wonderful memories with your new camera. I adore elephants. You were very lucky to be around when the koala was awake. I went to a koala farm in Australia and they were mostly sleepy. Enjoy your travels! Looking forward to seeing where you pop up next.

    1. YES Kelly! Finding the koala up and alert was awesome! I have found most animals are much more alert and ‘photogenic’ first thing in the morning. I try to be at the zoo when it first opens…not only do you practically have the whole place to yourself, but also the animals are up and moving!

  4. I’m living vicariously through you! I love Jerome, but haven’t been in ages. Albuquerque is another favorite and I have some good stories about Tucumcari. You’re in one of my favorite areas and I’m so glad to see your wonderful photos. Love the truck junkyard.

    1. Thanks Linda….I thought you would have probably spent some time there. I’m so glad I was able to experience them all….I could have spent hours with my camera in the junkyard! I hope to go back again someday for another visit….it was so very busy in Jerome that I didn’t really get to see many of the little shops.

  5. Love the little girl!! Ellie’s are my fav!! I’ve got a cement Ellie garden art just waiting for the weather to turn nice so she can come ut and play. I put her away for the winter since the snow and freezing destroy cement. What a great life you lead. I’m thankful you share your moments with us!!

  6. Oh how fun! I’ve only driven through New Mexico but I lived in Arizona for a really long time. Never been to Jerome but I know the college I went to took a lot of photo trips out there. I could just never go because of my little one. I love all the shots you took and Jerome looks fun but a bit like Tombstone. Haha!

    1. It was fun….and yes, I agree Jerome does look at bit like tombstone…maybe a bit smaller and definitely a bit ‘taller’….LOL!

  7. I have to wonder about a graveyard for old trucks; what sort of scavengers do they get there, and the noises in the dead of night.

    1. OOOO….some very spooky thoughts! Wouldn’t it be fun to spend the night there…around a campfire telling ghost stories!

  8. Oh what fabulous photos Debbie – that new camera is a keeper. 🙂 I love, love, love those ellie pictures – Jasmine is seriously adorable. Keep on having fun and look forward to more peeks.
